cherries in watercolour.

Cherries are finally on the market! I lost both cherry trees in my garden to some sort of disease, now I have to buy at the market. But that is OK. They are delicious.

Yellow rose

I don’t know the name of this rose, but it is a lovely soft yellow climbing rose and overflowing with blooms in June. I love yellows and oranges in summer with a lot of white and accents of blue. Isn’t nature perfect in its inspration?

Kniphofia in watercolour.

Also known as torch lily or red poker, I grew up in south Africa knowing them as ‘vuurpyle’. We had them in the garden and every summer they flowered in abundance. I have them in my garden now as well, a little reminder of my South African roots.

Copper in watercolour.

Every year I paint my paintbrushes intheir copper containers and every year I say the same thing: that I want to replace the copper bowls with stoneware containers, simply because the copper is too high maintenance. But once the copper is cleaned and buffed, I succumb before their splendour and so the paintbrushes stay in copper containes yet another year.

This second sketch was done in 2016, also of my copper containers.
