cherries in watercolour.

Cherries are finally on the market! I lost both cherry trees in my garden to some sort of disease, now I have to buy at the market. But that is OK. They are delicious.

Garden apple.

Our apples in the garden are far from perfect n appearance, with spots all over, but they are perfect in taste, sweet and crunchy. I thought it would be a good challenge to paint one in its imperfect, but perfect glow.

Available on my website, Ronell van Wyk

Two aubergines from the potager.

I loved painting these aubergines…I love the colour and the shape, and of course I adore eating them, especially rosted in the oven.

Green jug and onion

Onions are probably the vegetables that exist in all homes and are probably most used everyday for meals. They are great for painting too!

This little painting can be purchased on my website, Ronell van Wyk

Olive grove 10, oil on board, 35x25 cm
Tulips and daffodils around the olive tree. Last year I planted bulbs around the olive tree, the only spot in the garden the wild boars can’t get to. And they are blooming profusely! Lavender is soon to be planted around the olive trees, after the bulbs have finished.

  • Marinated red onions December 16, 2022
These marinated onions have been around for quite a few years and I haven’t gotten around to posting them. So here they are. If you haven’t made them yet, you are missing out badly. They are delicious with everything and they add a punch to salads, starters, sandwiches, vegetable platters, pastas and snacks. So easy…

  • Washing muddy horses. February 15, 2014
The big problem with draft horses roaming free in the pastures is that they get very dirty in winter. and of course they hate being closed up. Living on hills don’t make it any easier. So we keep them in a smaller camp, both for their own sake and for the fields’ sake. But with […]
